The Story Behind the Dual Controls
I’ve always believed that driving is more than just a practical skill. For me, the road has been a space to reflect, ground myself, and process life’s challenges.
Bridging the Gap: From Skill to Insight During my 8 years as an actively practicing Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), I began to notice a powerful pattern. Helping my students wasn't just about teaching them how to use a gearbox or navigate a roundabout. It was about understanding their internal world, how they managed anxiety, the beliefs that shaped their decisions, and the emotional barriers that kept them "stuck" even when they had the technical skill.
A Dual Approach to Moving Forward This insight led me to become a Counsellor. Today, I am one of the few professionals who actively maintains both roles. I bring these two worlds together to help you move forward, both literally and psychologically.
Whether I am in the passenger seat supporting your driving or in a therapeutic space exploring your life, I use my dual expertise to ensure you are safe, understood, and empowered.
The Car as a Mirror for Life
I believe that we often drive the way we feel. The driving environment is a powerful microcosm of life: a safe, contained space where our patterns of thought and behavior surface in real-time.
Through Driving Therapy and Counselling in Motion, we use this environment to:
- Identify Patterns: See how anxiety or a need for control manifests in your reactions.
- Build Confidence: Experiment with new ways of responding to pressure in a safe, dual-controlled setting.
- Regulate Emotions: Move from a state of panic or "stuckness" back into your "optimal zone" (The Window of Tolerance).
By gently shifting your "inner angle," we work to build resilience and balance that carries over from the road into your everyday life.
My Therapeutic Approach
I am an Integrative Counsellor, which means I don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach. I adapt my work to your unique needs using several key frameworks:
- DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy): Providing practical tools for emotional regulation and distress tolerance.
- Person-Centred: Ensuring you are always heard in a warm, non-judgmental space.
- Psychoanalytic & Systemic: Exploring the deeper roots of your patterns and how your relationships shape your world.

Your safety(both physical and emotional) is my highest priority. I maintain dual professional standards to ensure a secure therapeutic environment.
