Counselling in Motion
From Talking About It… to Gently Doing It
Talk therapy can take you far. But some fears only live in the car.
Counselling in Motion bridges that gap. We combine professional therapy with real-world experience. So your confidence can grow where it actually matters.
Why It Works
Anxiety doesn’t show up in a quiet therapy room. It shows up behind the wheel.
That is where your body reacts. That is where your mind says, “I’m not safe.” So that is where we work.
We don’t just talk about the fear. We meet it, gently, in real time. Because your brain learns through experience—not just understanding.
When you feel safe while driving, your nervous system "updates." The fear begins to lose its grip.
The Journey: What to Expect
A calm, step-by-step process. No pressure. No surprises.
- The Safety Chat We start with a conversation (online or phone). You share your experience at your own pace. We agree on what “safe” looks like for you.
- The Foundation We meet in a parked car or a quiet space. There is zero expectation to drive. This stage is about reclaiming the car as a safe place to sit and breathe.
- Integration We move slowly, together. I monitor the road as an ADI while supporting your internal state as a counsellor. We follow your nervous system—not a rigid lesson plan.
- Independence We use Graded Exposure to tackle your specific triggers—roundabouts, faster roads, or junctions. We work until driving feels possible again. And eventually, natural.
The Inner Angle Toolkit
A tailored approach used gently, in the moment.
- Integrated Awareness: Balancing road safety with internal regulation.
- Real-Time Grounding: Using Mindfulness and DBT-informed tools to stop a panic spike before it takes over.
- The Dual-Lens Approach: Professional psychological support combined with the safety of a government-approved driving instructor.
- Graded Exposure: Micro-steps that ensure you are never "pushed" into a panic.
