Future Services
In-person counselling may be offered in the future. Clients will be informed of any changes to available services.
2. Professional Standards
All services are provided in accordance with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) professional framework and ethical guidelines, including:
- Professional conduct and boundaries
- Confidentiality and data protection
- Client welfare and safety
- Ongoing professional development and supervision
3. Fees and Payment
Session Fees
- Online Counselling (50 minutes): £50 per session
- Driving Therapy (2 hours): £100 per session
Payment Terms
- Payment must be made within 24 hours before the scheduled session, or at the start of the session.
- Payment is by bank transfer or cash.
- Each session is paid for individually.
Initial Consultation
A free 30-minute initial consultation is offered to all new clients to discuss suitability and answer questions.
4. Booking and Cancellations
Cancellation Policy
- 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
- Cancellations or rescheduling requests with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full.
- This policy ensures fair access to appointments for all clients.
Emergency Circumstances
In cases of genuine emergency (serious illness, bereavement, etc.), please contact me as soon as possible. Each situation will be considered individually and with compassion.
My Cancellations
If I need to cancel a session due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, I will give you as much notice as possible and offer to reschedule at your convenience. No charge will be applied.
5. Missed Sessions and No-Shows
If you do not attend a scheduled session and have not provided 24 hours’ notice, the full session fee will be charged. This policy reflects the time reserved specifically for you and the opportunity cost of that appointment slot.
6. Confidentiality
General Confidentiality
All information shared in sessions is treated as strictly confidential in accordance with NCPS guidelines and UK GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018.
Adapted Confidentiality for Driving Therapy
Due to the nature of in-car sessions taking place in public spaces, there is acknowledgment that we may be observed by others. However, the content of our therapeutic conversations remains confidential. This adapted framework is discussed during the initial assessment.
Limits to Confidentiality
Confidentiality may be broken in the following circumstances:
- Risk of serious harm to yourself or others
- Disclosure of terrorism or serious crime
- Court order requiring disclosure
- Safeguarding concerns regarding children or vulnerable adults
You will be informed if I need to break confidentiality, except where doing so would increase risk of harm.
Supervision
As required by professional standards, I receive regular clinical supervision. Information shared in supervision is handled confidentially and anonymously where possible, solely to ensure quality and safety of therapeutic work.
7. Session Expectations
Your Responsibilities
- Attend sessions punctually or provide appropriate notice if unable to attend
- Engage honestly and openly within your comfort level
- Pay for sessions according to the agreed terms
- Inform me of any changes to your circumstances that may affect our work
My Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental therapeutic space
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times
- Adhere to NCPS ethical guidelines and professional standards
- Engage in regular supervision to ensure quality of care
- Maintain appropriate insurance and professional qualifications
Therapeutic Relationship
The relationship between therapist and client is professional and bound by ethical guidelines. Dual relationships (social, business, or romantic) are not appropriate and would require termination of the therapeutic relationship.
8. Safety Considerations for Driving Therapy
Dual Controls
All in-car sessions take place in a fully insured driving school car equipped with dual controls for safety.
Safety Framework
Sessions operate within a safe/unsafe framework rather than right/wrong. If at any point I assess that continuing to drive would be unsafe (due to emotional distress or other factors), we will pause or end the driving portion of the session. This is a professional safety decision, not a judgment.
Driving Licence Requirements
Clients must hold a valid UK driving licence and provide a driving licence check code before in-car sessions. Insurance and legal requirements must be met.
9. Ending Therapy
Your Right to End Therapy
You have the right to end therapy at any time. Where possible, I encourage a planned ending with a final session to reflect on our work together.
My Right to End Therapy
I reserve the right to end the therapeutic relationship if:
- I believe I am not the most appropriate therapist for your needs
- Professional boundaries are repeatedly violated
- Payment terms are not adhered to
- The therapeutic relationship has broken down
In such cases, I will discuss this with you and, where appropriate, offer referrals to other practitioners.
10. Complaints Procedure
I am committed to providing high-quality therapeutic services. If you have concerns about any aspect of your therapy, I encourage you to:
Step 1: Speak to Me Directly
Raise your concerns with me first, either during a session or via email/phone. Many issues can be resolved through open discussion.
Step 2: Formal Complaint
If you wish to make a formal complaint, please put this in writing (email or letter) including:
- Details of your concern
- What outcome you are seeking
- Any relevant dates or specifics
I will respond within 10 working days and work with you to resolve the issue.
Step 3: Professional Body
If you are not satisfied with my response, you can contact:
National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)
Website: https://ncps.com/complaints
Step 4: Regulatory Bodies
You may also contact:
- Professional Standards Authority
- Information Commissioner’s Office (for data protection concerns)
11. Limitation of Liability
Professional Boundaries
Therapy is a collaborative process and outcomes cannot be guaranteed. While I will work with you professionally and compassionately, I cannot guarantee specific results or outcomes.
Emergency Situations
I am not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or at immediate risk of harm, please contact:
- Emergency Services: 911
- Samaritans: 116 123 (24/7)
- NHS Crisis Line: 111 (option 2)
- Your GP or local A&E
Between Sessions
I do not offer crisis support between sessions. Please use emergency services if needed and inform me at our next session.
12. Insurance
I maintain appropriate professional indemnity insurance and public liability insurance as required for both counselling and driving instruction services.
13. Recording and Note-Taking
Session Notes
I keep confidential clinical notes for professional purposes, stored securely in accordance with data protection requirements. These are retained for 7 years after our last contact.
Recording
Sessions may not be recorded (audio or video) by either party without explicit written consent from both parties.
14. Changes to Terms and Conditions
I reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions. Any changes will be communicated to current clients, and updated terms will be posted on this website with a revision date. Continued use of services after changes constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
